Twinzer Canards
The Canard: Front-End Precision & Control
The Canard fin (commonly referred to as a "front" or "leading" fin) is a specialized template paired with trailing twin fins. Inspired by aeronautics—where a "canard" is a small wing placed in front of the main wing—these fins are designed to manage water flow before it hits the rear fins, providing extra "bite" and stability during high-speed maneuvers.
Key Technical Characteristics
• Smaller Profile: Canards are typically smaller in surface area than your main drive fins. Their job isn't to provide the bulk of the power, but to refine the direction of the board.
• Aggressive Cant: Often set at a steeper angle (cant), canards help the board engage the rail earlier in the turn, offering a "tucked-in" feeling in steep sections.
• Flow Management: By "pre-directing" the water flow toward the trailing fins, canards reduce turbulence under the tail, which results in a smoother, more connected ride.
